Becci Tomasek
Cheesy Meat lovers breakfast casserole

  • 1 Lb diced bacon browned and slightly crispy

  • 1 Lb breakfast sausage crumbled and browned

  • 8 oz diced ham fully cooked

  • 12 large eggs whisked

  • 1 1/2 cups half and half or heavy cream)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • Salt to season

  • Fresh cracked black pepper

  • 2 cups grated sharp cheddar

  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese

  • 1 20 oz bag shredded hash browns

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease a large 4-5 inch deep casserole dish or 8x12-inch baking dish with nonstick oil spray.( I like using a deeper baking dish for a soufflé style dish but it will need to bake a bit longer)

  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, garlic powder, onion powder and nutmeg in a large bowl. Season generously with salt and pepper.

  • Add a layer of half of the hash browns to the base of the dish. Sprinkle half the bacon, ham and sausage over potatoes and top with half of the cheddar and gruyere. Spread the rest of the hash browns, and repeat the process with the layers of meats and cheeses. Pour the egg mixture over the top slowly and allow it to sink in. Bake until eggs are cooked through (about 50 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes depending on the depth of the casserole dish). Test with a knife inserted in the center until it comes out clean.

  • Note: It might be juicy in the center even though its fully set and cooked because of the natural ham juices

  • Serve hot with sliced avocado. We also enjoy hot sauce and sour cream as well.
